Green Machine

DRIVING QUESTION:

How can I save my green space?

PROJECT DESCRIPTION:

Students will choose a topic of interest that can be connected to saving or preserving green space. It can be at home, school or in their neighbourhood. Students must identify the problem or issue, then evaluate its current situation (eg. is it a lack of green space? is the green space at risk?). Students will come up with an action plan that they can undertake (eg. reclaiming space, organizing a clean-up, petition to create a protected space, create a rooftop garden etc.) and determine resources that they could take advantage of. Students will present progress and end product in an exhibition walk to peers, younger students, and interested community members.

CONNECTIONS AND PERSPECTIVES:

This project connects to the goal of the students to be ready and willing as it encourages students to be considerate and active community members. It incorporates values of global stewardship and care for our common home.
