Can Everything Old Actually Be New Again?

DRIVING QUESTION:

Can a city of 140,000 people ever have no depressed neighbourhoods?

PROJECT DESCRIPTION:

After a guided tour of their local city’s core, the students will debrief and discuss what they learned about their city. They will then select a topic to research and investigate to better understand what is needed to revitalize the cities neighbourhoods. They will meet with stakeholders and mentors, study the city’s plan as well as other cities, as able, and do a cross analysis. They will then present their findings to their peers in a protocol and make revisions as necessary before a final public presentation.

CONNECTIONS AND PERSPECTIVES:

Students will be able to identify an issue and seek ways to serve their neighbours by proposing changes to their city. They could have the opportunity to discuss the Christian’s role in revitalizing a neighbourhood.
