PROJECT DESCRIPTION:

History has lessons that can be learned.  Local or current events are no different; exploration, expansion, conflict and change all took place in the students’ own “backyard”.  Students will explore various local events and learn their effects and its influence on the area.  Students will apply this knowledge to current events and recognize how our actions today will affect our future.  These ideas relate to all time periods of history and are foundational for the study of history.  Students will conclude their study be creating a Public Service Announcement on a current event.

CONNECTIONS AND PERSPECTIVES:

Through this project students will learn to focus on perspectives of all parties involved and how we can best look to the interest of all.  They will also focus on our place in the world and how we fit into the story.
